How to Do the Inside to Outside Block in Soo Bahk Do

The inside-to-outside block is an easy block that can be used during an attack by your opponent. Not only will you be able to protect your body, you will also be able to move your opponent's arms or legs out of range. This move can be practiced alone or with a partner.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Start in a fighter's stance. Position your right arm at your chest and your left arm at your waist. Your legs should be slightly bent.

  2. Step 2

    Block your opponent's hand using your right hand and arm.

  3. Step 3

    Bring your left arm behind your opponent's arm.

  4. Step 4

    Sweep your left arm to move your opponent's arm out of range.

  5. Step 5

    Punch your opponent with your right hand or return to a fighter's stance.

Tips & Warnings
  • Protecting your body is the most important aspect of this move. If the opportunity to strike your opponent does not arise, continue to block your body until the right time occurs.
