How to Do the Cross Legged Low Block in Soo Bahk Do

The cross legged low block in the martial art Soo Bahk Do is considered a defensive move and is used to block your opponent. This move can be modified to block long range and short range leg movements. You can easily learn this move by practicing it with or without a partner.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Start in a fighter's position by turning your body to the side and raising your arms to your chest. Your knees should be slightly bent.

  2. Step 2

    To execute this block, move your left leg behind your right leg. Lower the top half of your body slightly.

  3. Step 3

    Pull your right arm to the side of your body and raise your left arm above it.

  4. Step 4

    As you lower your body, lower your left arm to block your opponent's attack.

  5. Step 5

    Return to a fighter's stance.

Tips & Warnings
  • There are 2 steps to this move. Practice using your legs only at first and then add the arms once you've achieved the correct balance and posture.
