Dropping a stitch while knitting can be very aggravating. Using a crochet hook to correct your mistake is the easiest way to go; here's how to do it.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Crochet hook
  • Patience
  1. Step 1

When you are knitting or purling a stitch, pull the stitch off of the knitting needle with caution. Sometimes, however, you may be in a hurry or your attention may be focused elsewhere and you may "drop" a stitch without realizing it until later. If this happens, simply place your crochet to grab the dropped stitch from the front of your project. Work from front to back.

  2. Step 2

Hook the horizontal strand above and pull through the loop on the crochet hook.

  3. Step 3

Continue this process, transferring stitch from row to row until you reach the correct location.

  4. Step 4

Transfer the loop from the crochet hook to the left needle. Use caution not to twist the stitch in the process.

  5. Step 5

Continue knitting or purling your row of stitches.

Tips & Warnings
  • Sometimes it is necessary to unravel a few rows to correct a major mistake. If you need to unravel, do it one stitch at a time and insert the knitting needle into the below below.
