Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Salsa Underarm Turn to the Right

  1. Step 1

Start the basic steps. But when you are ready for the turn, the man gets ready for the right underarm turn by stepping slow on the right foot. On the next quick-quick-slow step, he makes his partner's turn happen.

  2. Step 2

Prepare when he steps back slow on his right foot. The man lifts his arm, and the woman does a 360-degree turn while he continues the same quick-quick-slow sequence.

  3. Step 3

Make the turn. The woman begins by putting her left foot forward and then turning and finishing when the basic sequence of the steps are finished.

  4. Turn the Other Way

  5. Step 1

Step back. Some dancers do the right underarm differently. The man can do a back step instead of a front step when he gets ready to turn the lady. In other words, he steps back on beats 5, 6 and 7 and does the complete step but takes an extra step back on the first, second and third beats.

  6. Step 2

Rock back. When he rocks back, he pushes the woman forward so she doesn’t follow him.

  7. Step 3

Move your hips. While doing these steps, moving your hips gives the woman room to flow.

  8. The Woman's Part

  9. Step 1

Create either an outside turn or an inside turn. In the outside turn, the woman extends her arm out from her body, and on the inside turn, she crosses her arm to the center of her body.

  10. Step 2

Practice this turn, but once you get the hang of it, you will be making many turns throughout the dance floor, and the turn can be done by both man and woman.

  11. Step 3

Make turns to make your dance seem more interesting and appealing to those watching, plus it's a lot more fun for your dance partner.
