Being a virgin is a state of sexual purity. A virgin can be described as a male or female who remains in a state of chastity. Often people rush through the steps of intimacy before they are ready and before they know it they have lost their sexual purity.

How to Retain Sexual Purity

Step1
Talk to your children at an early age. Discuss with your children the values of modesty and the importance in retaining their sexual purity until they are married. This is a conversation best had when they are at an early age. Continue discussing this with your children as they grow in age.
Step2
Instill the values of your religion into your children. By taking your children to church with you and exposing them to leaders who are excellent role models you can help persuade your children to retain their sexual purity for their spouses. Many religions frown upon pre-marital sex and can help to persuade young people to avoid sex until they are married.
Step3
Explain intimacy to your children. As your children reach their pre-teen and teenage years it is very important to have a discussion with them about sex. Remember to be open and responsive to their questions and what they may be feeling. Often parents become overbearing and make rash decisions, not being considerate of their children's feelings. Let them discuss sex openly in a non-hostile environment. Be sure to inform them of the benefits of abstinence until marriage.
Step4
Do not rush intimacy. There are several levels of intimacy that eventually lead to intercourse. It is best to remain at the point before petting occurs. Once a couple has experienced petting, it is often difficult to restrain from sexual intimacy.
Step5
Work to get to know your girlfriend or boyfriend on a non-intimate level. Get to know each other as people and work to understand each others beliefs and feelings.
