Achieving your long term goals will lead to success in all aspects of your life, from work to love. But when people look at their long term goals, they often seem too big to accomplish. Many people feel beaten before they have even started trying to achieve their long term goals. What sets these people apart from the people who achieve their long term goals? They did not know how to achieve their long term goals step-by-step. Follow this process to achieve your long term goals.

  • Notepad
  • Pen
  1. Step 1

    Write down a list of your long term goals that you want to achieve. Write down everything that comes to your mind in this exercise. Every long term goal deserves to be evaluated and worked on.

  2. Step 2

    Choose one long term goal to focus on achieving. By starting with one long term goal, you will not be overwhelmed by the amount that you would need to do to achieve all of your long term goals.

  3. Step 3

    Think about this long term goal and what exactly you would need to do to achieve it. Write down everything that you come up with--these are now short terms goals that will lead up to achieving your long term goal. You may even be able to break these goals down further into more short term goals.

  4. Step 4

    Look at each of these short term goals and write down how long it will take you to achieve the goal. Giving yourself deadlines to achieving these short term goals will help you achieve your long term goal that much faster.

  5. Step 5

    Start working on the short term goals and stick to the deadlines. This will make achieving your long term goal very easy when you have achieved each deadline you have set for your short term goals.

  • Reevaluate your long term goals every month. You will be amazed at how much can change in your life in 4 short weeks.
  • Track where you are at in terms of achieving the long term goal that you are working on once a week.
  • Set realistic deadlines for when you will complete short term goals. Nothing stops the process of achieving long term goals faster then missing one of your deadlines.
  • Be patient. It is called a long term goal for a reason.
