In this day and age of casual dating and even more casual sex, Christians often face the challenge of finding a partner who will be on the same page when it comes to dating. Even for a Christian couple who have intentions on living a life that honors God, this may not always be as easy as it sounds. However, it is not impossible to have a dating relationship while upholding your values and having fun in the process

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Become friends with and network with other Christian couples. Go on double or group dates, and find fun events to participate in together. Whether you decide to go out or just hang out together as a group, you can have a good time. In addition, you will be able to discuss common issues or situations that other Christian couples are facing.

  2. Step 2

Pray together. If you desire to be in a relationship that honors God, pray that He gives you direction in terms of where He wants your relationship to go. Sure dating is about getting to know the other person and enjoying his or her company, but it is also important to keep God as the focus of your relationship.

  3. Step 3

Discuss any potential issues and boundaries from the beginning. If you are a Christian, you probably will want to date someone who shares your faith and values. In any event, when you begin dating someone, be clear about what you want out of the relationship, and what you do not plan on compromising on. Some relationships are just about companionship, but many are preparation for marriage. Being open about what you both are seeking can help you determine if it is in the will of God for you to date this person

  4. Step 4

If you are saved and trying to live in a Godly way, sex, or not having any, is probably the most difficult topic that you as a couple will encounter. This is more difficult if you are dating someone who is not saved, as they may not understand your reasons for abstaining. This is why it is generally advised that Christians date other Christians who share the same spiritual values. Even if you are dating a Christian, this is not an easy situation, because you are still human, and you will still have sexual desires. Pray for strength to resist these temptations, and try to avoid situations that leave you vulnerable in intimate situations.
