As a business owner or website manager, you may need to write optimized web content to improve your website's effectiveness and traffic. Writing web content that is search engine friendly is simple. Follow these steps to write search engine optimized web content.

  1. Step 1

    Determine ideal keywords for your topic based on supply and demand. Use keyword tools like Wordtracker or Micro Niche Finder to brainstorm for popular keyword phrases. Search in Google to determine the supply/competitiveness of the keywords. Find high demand and low supply keywords.

  2. Step 2

    Choose 1 to 2 main keywords for each article based on high demand and low competitiveness. Create a list of several keyword phrases to target in current and future updates.

  3. Step 3

    Write an original article using the keyword in the file name, titles, the first sentence and the last sentence. Repeat the keywords and synonyms a few times throughout the article.

  4. Step 4

    Calculate the keyword density by dividing the number of keywords by the number of total words. Aim for a 4 to 6 percent density.

  5. Step 5

    Edit the article for quality content for reading that also has a good keyword density for the search engines. Add keywords or edit down the wordcount to increase keyword density. Publish the content to the website.

Tips & Warnings
  • Test different keyword density rates. Use synonyms and related keywords. Consider hiring an SEO writer to write and edit web content articles.
  • Don’t overstuff keywords in a page or your website may be penalize by search engines.
