Things You'll Need:

    Use Shelf Mounts

  1. Step 1

Install your shelf mounts following the instructions that came with the kit. Generally this will include finding studs, using a template and a level to mark where each mount leg will be installed, drilling holes and securing the mounts to the wall using screws. Once installed your shelf mounts can be used to support a variety of different shelving and storage units.

  2. Step 2

Create a knick-knack display area by placing a single shelf on top of your shelf mount. Select a shelving unit with a designer color, black lacquer or stainless steel finish to create a shelving unit that is as decorative as it is functional.

  3. Step 3

Utilize the shelf mount to create a higher viewing platform for your flat screen television. Follow the instructions that came with your television screen to make sure the shelf you place on top of your shelf mounts are wide enough to accommodate it and its wires.

  4. Step 4

Organize your media. Install several sets of shelf mounts to create a floating media center that can hold your DVDs, electronics, Playstation, games and books. Use contrasting shelving colors to create a very interesting entertainment center.

  5. Step 5

Use industrial strength shelf mounts to create storage units for your basement, garage or shop. Keep in mind that you may need special fasteners and drill bits if you have to secure the shelf mounts to a cement block wall.
