How to find Freelance Writing Work on the Internet

  1. Step 1

Do a general Internet search for freelance writing or freelance writing forums. Look for sites that have proof of people actually getting jobs. A good way to start would be to write about areas you know a lot about. For instance if you work in the health field you can write about health related topics. Having a background in an area you are writing about lends more credibility to your work and brands you as more of an expert. This will help you to get more work.

  2. Step 2

Sign up for an account at sites that match up writers with people looking for writers. Sites such as elance.com is a good start. You can bid on jobs once you sign up, beware though that many people will not likely hire someone with no experience.

  3. Step 3

Offer your services on Internet marketing forums. Often Internet marketers are looking for people to write reviews or articles for them. However, if you are new to the market you will have to charge lower rates than others who have been at it for a while. Once you have some clients who can vouch for your writing, then you can increase your rates.

  4. Step 4

Create a website and post writing samples, client testimonials and rates. Promote your site any where and everywhere.

  5. Step 5

Create accounts at sites such as Associated Content to get some seed money. They currently pay writers to submit articles. It can range from $3-15 if your work is accepted.

  6. Step 6

Keep promoting yourself, bidding on jobs and writing for sites that pay upfront such as Associated Content.

  • Once you start writing for clients you will have to charge lower fees as no one knows about you or your work. Over time you will be able to charge more.
