Only the original shirts qualify as "vintage." There are many imitations, but none are as sweet as the real thing: the BeeGees tee from 1976 that looks a bit worn and smaller than when initially purchased; that Clapton tee showing us that classic "Slowhand" album (November 1977) and concert info that perhaps has a teeny pull in a thread. Classic stuff is the old stuff, the real thing. The first step is to separate the "new" vintage look from the authentic "vintage."

After you've found your own classic/vintage shirts hidden in your closet, take a look at just how you might put those on the market in order to sell them; that is, if we are ready to part with them.

Find a place to sell. Try some garage or yard sales; they are a great step in making a sale. The online marketplace of eBay is another great way to sell these shirts. Just be sure to have pictures of the items scanned well enough to answer questions concerning rock information. You'll also need to have notes accompanying the shirts with regard to any holes, snags, discolorations of the fabric. Ads in your local newspapers or even in some papers printed in the larger cities would be a great way to move toward a sale also. Write something that is short and sweet but extremely descriptive. Enclose a photo with the ad request and don't forget to include the payment that the newspaper would require.

Once a sale is made, be certain that you get that proper item that was ordered and purchased to the customer in a neat and clean manner. Taped-up, sturdy postal bags are nice, with the interior bubble wrap. Cardboard is always a plus.
