Step 1
Plan ahead. A 50th anniversary is special and much time is needed to prepare for the event. Don't wait until the week before to contact friends for a party, or spend the night before the anniversary choosing a gift. Preparation is required and will be evident when the big day arrives.
-
Step 2
Give traditional 50th anniversary gifts. Gold is the item of choice listed in many etiquette guides for the 50th celebration. Explore other options such as receiving religious blessings or special messages from government officials.
-
Step 3
Honor the past. Gather old photos and special items saved throughout the years. Consider preserving films and pictures onto a special 50th anniversary keepsake video.
-
Step 4
Connect with friends and family. It is important to allow these special people to share in the celebration to teach others that life-long love and commitment is possible. Allow children and grandchildren to express their appreciation through family-centered activities such as meals or visits.
-
Step 5
Spare no expense. This is not the time to excessively pinch pennies. While a 50th anniversary celebration does not have to set a world spending record, it should be celebrated to the fullest. Remember, time and effort are as valuable as money.

on 10/10/2008 I recently attended the 50th Anniversary party of a couple that was so wonderful. Their kids got a bunch of old/new pictures from the family album and used http://www.smilingsnaps.com to compile them into a choreographed DVD show depicting their life together. It was perfectly synchronized to music and because it was professionally made, the results were awesome! It was so touching, the couple as well as many guests got emotional while watching those moments come alive on the screen!!
