Whether it's Valentine's Day, or you're just in love, drawing a heart is a great way to express how you feel. Making it symmetrical can be a challenge. Here's two ways to make your expression of love, perfect.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

Draw a Heart by Making a Stencil

  1. Step 1

Fold a sheet of paper in half. The paper can be whatever size you want your heart.

  2. Step 2

Take a pencil and start on the folded side of the paper. Draw half of the heart. It will look like the top portion of a question mark.

  3. Step 3

Cut along the line. When you open the paper, it will look like a heart and the sides will be symmetrical.

  4. Step 4

Lay the heart on a piece of paper and use it as a stencil. Draw around the edges.

  5. Draw a Heart With a Ruler

  6. Step 1

Draw a straight, vertical line with a ruler. It can be a short or as long as you want the drawing of the heart.

  7. Step 2

Draw half the heart starting and ending the line on the straight line.

  8. Step 3

Take a ruler and measure how far away the outer edge of the half drawn heart is from the center.

  9. Step 4

Take the ruler to other side. Measure it out and make a dot.

  10. Step 5

Continue to measure the distances on one side of the heart, and placing dots on the other side.

  11. Step 6

Connect the dots to make a symmetric heart.

  12. Step 7

Now you have drawn your perfect, symmetrical heart.

Tips & Warnings
  • With extra practice, you can draw hearts freehanded.
  • All hearts look different, so don't be discouraged if one heart looks wider, and another looks longer.
