How to Make Pizza Fondue
This dish is a variation on two party favorites: pizza and fondue. Rather than using a fondue pot, however, this hearty dish is best cooked and served in a crock pot. This dish is intended as only one of several appetizers to be served at a cocktail party or other event. Preparation begins the night before and that the mixture needs to cook about two hours before serving. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Crock pot
- Fondue forks for each guest
- Non-stick cooking spray
- 1 pound of ground beef or turkey
- 1 pound of Italian sausage
- 1 large jar of your favorite spaghetti sauce
- 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 cups of any white wine
- 2 loaves of French or Italian bread

Cut the bread into large cubes and put on cookie sheets so they will dry out. Leave out overnight.

Spray a skillet with a no-stick cooking spray. Brown the ground beef or turkey and the Italian sausage in a skillet and drain off grease.

Put the meats into the crock pot. Add the cheeses, spaghetti sauce and wine. Stir.

Simmer at least two hours, making sure cheese melts completely. Put the crockpot on the warm setting.

Hand guests fondue forks and let them dip cubes of bread into the pizza fondue mixture.

An alternative serving idea for this recipe is to pile bread cubes on a plate and spoon pizza fondue mixture over the top.
