Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 large onion
  • 4 carrots
  • 4 to 6 cups water
  • 2 cups dried split peas
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 stick butter (optional)
  • Diced, smoked ham (optional)
  1. Step 1

    Chop onion and carrots.

  2. Step 2

    Add 4 to 6 cups of water to your slow cooker. Use less if you desire a thicker soup, more if you prefer a thinner texture.

  3. Step 3

    Add chopped onion and carrots to the slow cooker. Add dried split peas and salt and pepper to taste.

  4. Step 4

    Add diced, smoked ham and/or 1/2 stick of butter, if you are not going for the vegan option.

  5. Step 5

    Set your slow cooker on the low setting and cook for about 5 hours or until peas are soft and desired thickness is achieved.
