How to Make an Orange Chocolate Dessert

Orange and chocolate can be a great pair when it comes to making desserts. This chocolate orange marble cake is easy to make and a pleasure to eat.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 8-inch round cake tins
  • Chocolate:
  • 3/4 cup Flour
  • 1/6 cup Cocoa
  • 2 1/4 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 cup Oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla
  • Orange:
  • 1 cup Flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4cup Oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup Milk
  • 1/4 cup Orange Juice
  • 1/2 tsp Orange Essence
  • 1 tsp Grated Orange Zest
  • Butter and flour for dusting
  • Icing:
  • Powdered Sugar
  • Up to 12 tsp. Orange Juice
  • Orange Food Coloring

    How to Make an Orange Chocolate Dessert

  1. Step 1

    Sift the dry ingredients (flour, cocoa, baking powder, salt, sugar) for the chocolate portion of the cake into a food processor. Make sure the food processor has a dough blade.

  2. Step 2

    Pour the liquid ingredients (oil, milk, egg, vanilla) into the food processor and run for two minutes.

  3. Step 3

    Sift the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, sugar, salt) for the orange portion of the cake into a food processor. Add oil, egg. milk, orange juice, Orange Essence, and grated Orange Zest)

  4. Step 4

    Prepare two cake tins. Spread butter around the bottom and sides, then dust with flour.

  5. Step 5

    Place spoonfuls of chocolate and orange batter in two cake tins. Alternate between the chocolate and orange for each tin.

  6. Step 6

    Swirl the batter using a knife to create a marble effect.

  7. Step 7

    Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Place on a wire rack and let cool.

  8. Step 8

    Whip powdered sugar with a little bit of orange juice. Add a couple drops of orange food coloring.

  9. Step 9

    Spread icing on top of the cooled cake. Serve.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can add chocolate sprinkles to the top of the cake for an extra taste of chocolate.
  • Don't add the icing before the cake is cooled.
