The Muzzy Foreign Language Learning System is a wonderful product from the British Broadcasting System (BBC). The program has been around for more than 20 years and involves a series of DVDs or VHS tapes, audio CDs or cassette tapes and workbooks to help your child learn a foreign language. From French to German to Japanese to Spanish and more, your child can learn a foreign language by watching the adventures of Muzzy, an alien who lands in the Kingdom of Gondoland. The Muzzy Foreign Language Learning System shows a series of cartoons in both English and the language you wish your child to learn; repetition helps to foster learning.
Watch all of the the Muzzy episodes first in English. Watch with your children, so that you learn the story lines.
2
Watch the Muzzy episodes one by one, in English first, then in the second language you chose. Go slowly, and be sure there are no other distractions when you and your children watch.
3
Listen to the Muzzy CDs or audio cassettes when you are driving in the car. This is the perfect opportunity to use car time on an enriching learning activity.
4
Take the workbooks and begin going through them as instructed. If you have multiple children using the system, make photocopies of the workbooks for individual children.
5
View the Muzzy episodes repeatedly. These episodes are intended to be viewed over and over to reinforce vocabulary, grammar and usage.
