  1. How to Turn Your Computer Desktop into a Monthly Planner

    • 1

Find a wallpaper image on the internet that already has a calendar on it, or make your own for each month. Keep in mind that the calendar dates need to be of a decent size, since we will be using desktop icons to mark important dates to remember. You may want to test your own design before completing the calendar, to make sure it works well for your needs.

    • 2

Set the image as your desktop. Save the image on your hard drive. Then right-click on your desktop and select "Properties." From there, look for the tab "Desktop." Click the Browse button to find your image on your hard drive. Once you have found it, click "Open," and then either "Apply" or "Save changes."

    • 3

Now you are ready to add special dates to your calendar. First, create a folder for each date you want to remember, like a birthday or an appointment. Name the folder accordingly. Then right -on the folder and select "Properties." Choose the "Customize" tab and then press the "Change icon" button to choose another icon image for your event.

Next, click and drag your folder to the date on your wallpaper calendar. Be sure to turn off Auto Arrange of your desktop icons, so that you can freely place your icons around your desktop.

    • 5

That's it! Your desktop is now a monthly planner. You might want to find a calendar image for the next 12 months so that you will be prepared.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can actually make your own icons. There are computer programs that can do this that make it fast and easy.

  • If you find a calendar image to use, make sure to save it, instead of using the shortcut to make it your desktop without saving. After a computer crash, your image may be gone, whereupon it might be very hard to find again.
