If you're like me and want to add a little kick, add a teaspoon of chili powder to the batter. You can also serve with chili and a green salad, or with chips and salsa.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 cups biscuit baking mix, such as Bisquick
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 4-1/2 teaspoons chili seasoning mix (from package)
  • 2-1/2 TBSP butter or margarine, melted

    How to Make Fiesta Bread

  1. Step 1

    Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Grease an 8 inch square pan.

  2. Step 2

    Combine biscuit mix, cumin and chili seasoning mix. Add chili powder if desired. Blend until seasonings are well distributed. Add milk and stir.

  3. Step 3

    Place butter or margarine into a Pyrex measuring cup. Cover with vented plastic wrap, and microwave for 30 seconds or until butter is melted.

  4. Step 4

    Remove melted butter from microwave. Drizzle over batter. Use a spatula to scrape mixture into prepared baking pan.

  5. Step 5

    Bake at 425 for 15 to 17 minutes, or until a toothpick can be inserted and removed without any batter residue. Cool briefly and cut into squares to serve.

Tips & Warnings
  • Crumble any leftovers on top of tomato soup for a quick lunch.
  • If someone in the family is lactose intolerant, use a dairy-free milk substitute instead of the milk.
