A flowing shrub will usually start to grow the year after it is planted in the yard. Some limbs on the shrub will grow faster than others giving th plant an uneven or thin look. Proper pruning will make a flowering shrub grow in a thicker more robust manner.

Things You'll Need:

  • Flowing Shrub
  • Small Pruner
  • Large Pruner
  • Garden Gloves
  1. Step 1

    Gather all of the tools needed and go out to the shrub.

  2. Step 2

    Use sharp hand pruners for young shrubs to ensure a clean cut. Cut the longer limbs close to the main limb.

  3. Step 3

    Prune off any dead or non-producing limbs close to the ground.

  4. Step 4

    Clean up any loose or wilted branches. Take all waste to trash area or grind for mulch.

  5. Step 5

    Enjoy the fruits of your labor as your flowing shrub flourishes.

Tips & Warnings
  • Trimming a flowing shrub in this manner over the first few years will yield a full healthy older shrub.
