Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Wear shower shoes when using public showers. In public showers, germs mask pretty much every area of the shower. One of the most common foot issues associated with dirty showers is athlete’s foot. Athlete’s foot can be extremely uncomfortable and requires quick attention before it progresses. You are advised to wear shower shoes while using public showers because this will protect your feet from the many germs on the floor area of the shower.
Step2
Wear foot powder. If you have to wear shoes (especially shoes with a dark inside) pretty much all day, your feet can do an enormous amount of sweating and this can eventually lead to athlete's foot and other foot conditions. You are advised to purchase a medicated foot powder that promotes dryness inside your shoes if you have to wear them throughout the day.
Step3
Change your socks and wash your feet daily. If you don't wash your feet or change your socks on a daily basis you are setting yourself up for an array of foot issues including: foot odor, athlete's foot and a rare condition called jungle rot (a fungal condition that rots your feet from the inside out). You should change your socks and wash your feet daily because of the bacteria that dirty socks and feet can harbor, and you should wear cotton socks instead of a synthetic fiber sock. Synthetic socks can cause an enormous amount of sweating inside the foot.
Step4
Consult your doctor in extreme cases regarding your feet. Especially if you have diabetes or poor circulation, you should pay close attention to your feet because neglecting your foot health in light of certain health issues can result in amputation of your foot and possibly a portion of your leg. If you notice bleeding, ulcers or poor circulation in your feet, it is recommended that you see your physician or podiatrist immediately.
