Because it had reached the point you could procrastinate no longer, you finally tackled that home redecorating project you have been dreading--you wallpapered the dining room. Though you are proud of your accomplishment, you can't help but feel a little saddened by the way you got the math wrong. Apparently, your calculations did not add up because the job is done and you still have an entire roll of wallpaper leftover! If you've already opened the roll, you will not be able to take it back to the store. Don't be too hard on yourself, there are lots of great ways to use that leftover wallpaper!

Things You'll Need:

  • Leftover wallpaper
  1. Step 1

Keep a bit of the leftover wallpaper on hand in case disaster strikes and you need to repair a section of the wallpaper you've hung.

  2. Step 2

Dress up the wastepaper basket in the room you have just redecorated. Simply trim a section of the leftover wallpaper to fit around the wastepaper basket and use a glue gun to affix the paper to the basket.

  3. Step 3

Decorate the switch plates and electrical outlet covers in the room. Cut sections of the leftover wallpaper so that they are slightly larger than each switch plate and outlet cover. Use the glue gun to firmly attach the paper. Trim the excess from the edges when the glue has cooled.

  4. Step 4

Use the leftover wallpaper to line drawers in the kitchen or bedroom. The drawers do not have to match the decor of the room in which they are used, as most people will not see the inside.

  5. Step 5

Dress up a piece of furniture with the leftover wallpaper. Trim prominent items (such as flowers) from the pattern in the paper or simply cut shapes from the paper. Use an acrylic sealant to affix them to a table, chair or cabinet in the room in which you have used the wallpaper.

  6. Step 6

Cover books with the leftover wallpaper. If you have books you would like to protect or if your child's teacher requires book covers on text books, leftover wallpaper makes an excellent sturdy book cover.

  7. Step 7

Get wrapping! Your leftover wallpaper will make someone smile when you use it as an elegant gift wrap.

  8. Step 8

Frame a square of your leftover wallpaper in a pretty picture frame to hang as an accent piece on the wall.

  9. Step 9

Save the leftover wallpaper for your child to use in a craft project. Kids love using your castoffs for their creative projects.

Tips & Warnings
  • Store your leftover wallpaper tightly rolled to prevent bending or wrinkling.
