Things You'll Need:
- Two lavalier mics
- Audio mixer
- Camera
-
Step 1
Clip the microphone to the subject's clothing, preferably around the neck area. Point the mic upward toward the subject's mouth. Try to hide the mic but do not allow anything to clock the microphone's screen as that will interfere will the recording.
-
Step 2
String the attached transmitter down the subject's body. Attach the transmitter by clipping it to the back of the subject's pants, skirt or other garment.
-
Step 3
Press the power button to turn the transmitter on. It should light up and display a channel. Make sure it is set to the correct channel. If not then set as needed. Next plug the receiver into the camera. Press the power button to turn it on. Again the screen should light up and display a channel. Make sure it is set to the same channel as the transmitter.
-
Step 4
Repeat steps one through three for the second lavalier microphone.
-
Step 5
Put the headphones on and plug them in to the camera or aduio mixer. Have each subject speak one at a time and adjust the audio levels. Then direct both of your subjects to speak at the same time. Note which voice is louder and whether or not you want them like this. Adjust according to your stylistic and artistic needs. We all naturally speak at different levels of audibility. That's it! You're ready to start recording!
