Step 1
Research your favorite brands. Some of your favorite brands may have vegan options. Check out their website, or call their customer service department. Make a list of all the types of shoes that they carry which are vegan. Knowing in advance what your choices are will save you time in the store.
-
Step 2
Check out department stores, but read the labels. Most department stores now do carry vegan shoes, but you should read the label carefully. If there is no leather, there will be a sign of the side or inside of the shoe that says "All Man Made Materials." That's what you should look for. If you cannot find what the shoes is made of on the label, feel free to ask a sales associate. However, try to see proof of what they say in a kind way. Many salesmen get paid of commission, and many people don't get why it's important to buy vegan shoes.
-
Step 3
Check out discount stores such as K-Mart. These stores always carry non-leather products, along with leather ones, because it is generally cheaper to have man made materials. Read the labels especially careful here, though. Sometimes the leather is cheaper than the alternative in stores like this.
-
Step 4
Go to a great vegan shoe store, Moo Shoes. It's located.on the lower east side of Manhattan. All the shoes in the entire store are vegan! There is no need to check labels at this store, and the environment is always inviting, friendly and compassionate.
-
Step 5
Do some window shopping. You will find vegan shoe deals in tiny shops all over Manhattan. Take a day once a week for a month to explore the shoe stores all around the city.
