Facebook is one of the most popular social networking websites available today. Millions of people are using Facebook to make new friends, find old friends and keep in touch with distant friends. You can also use Facebook to promote your business, association or non-profit. Here's how to get started.

  1. Step 1

    Go to the Facebook website at www.Facebook.com.

  2. Step 2

    Fill in the SIGN UP boxes on the homepage. Once you have signed up, log in.

  3. Step 3

    Add your friends. Invite your friends who are not part of Facebook already and let Facebook search your email addresses for users who are already registered.

  4. Step 4

    Fill out your basic profile information. Fill out each section completely. Click edit and then go ahead and add your birthday, gender and hometown information. This will help friends who are trying to find you.

  5. Step 5

    Fill out the personal tab. The personal tab contains places for your interests and hobbies. This information lets other people know what you are into.

  6. Step 6

    Add your education and work history. Search for old friends though high schools and colleges or past places of employment. Add this information so other people looking for you can find you.

  7. Step 7

    Upload a picture. Let people know what you look like these days. Some people upload a new picture every week.

  8. Step 8

    Add some applications. Use Facebook applications to interact with current friends or make new friends.
