How to Export in Pro Tools

Exporting in Pro Tools is a very easy process, and will take your edited tracks and compress them into a single audio file. This process is referred to as "bouncing" or "bounce to disk." Its quite simple to do, and this tutorial will lead you through the process.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Using the selection tool, highlight all regions that you wish to export.

  2. Step 2

    In the top menu, click on "file" and then "bounce to disk."

  3. Step 3

    Make sure that you leave the "bounce source" unchanged.

  4. Step 4

    Set the file type to desired audio format.

  5. Step 5

    Set the audio properties to either "studio" or "mono"

  6. Step 6

    Set the sample rate. For traditional audio uses, the 44100 rate is sufficient. For high definition or digital video, increase the sample rate to 48000.

  7. Step 7

    Now that you have set everything up correctly, its time to "bounce." Simply click "Ok" to complete the process.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure you've completed the file to your satisfaction before trying to export it.
  • Don't restart your computer at first if it seems to be going slowly. Be patient.
