How to Tie a Ground Line Hitch

The ground line hitch is a knot used to attach a rope to an object. In the class of knots known as Miller knots, the ground line hitch is more secure than the clover hitch and has less of a tendency to jam.

How to Tie a Ground Line Hitch

1. Pull the line over the top of the hitch and wrap it back underneath.

2. Cross the line over the top of itself.

3. Pull the line toward the right and back over the top of the hitch. Then, pull back underneath.

4. Wrap the line around the hitch again, pulling the end through the initial loop.

5. Pull the end of the line upward as you simultaneously pull the end of the line downward until taught.
