Haluski is a Polish and Slovakian term for a Cabbage and Noodles dish. It is a quick and easy dish that tastes delicious, as well as one that fills you up. It is simple to make, and with these easy steps you will find you have a new favorite meal!

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups flour
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of milk
  • Flour
  • 1 medium onion
  • Cabbage

    How to Make Homemade Haluski

  1. Step 1

    Beat the eggs well in preparation of making the noodles.

  2. Step 2

    Stir 2 cups of flour and the pinch of salt into the egg. Beat well again.

  3. Step 3

    Stir continuously as you add 1 teaspoon of milk slowly.

  4. Step 4

    Stir until a thick dough forms.

  5. Step 5

    Roll out dough onto a floured surface, about 1/8 inch thick.

  6. Step 6

    Cut the dough into 1" by 2" strips.

  7. Step 7

    Boil water while you are making the noodles.

  8. Step 8

    Drop the strips of dough carefully into the pot of boiling water, one at a time. Cook for 3 minutes.

  9. Step 9

    Drain the noodles and rinse, then lay out to dry.

  10. Step 10

    Chop up one medium onion.

  11. Step 11

    Saute onion in one teaspoon of butter.

  12. Step 12

    As the onion is cooking, cut up the cabbage into thin strips and add to the pan. Cook together until they are tender.

  13. Step 13

    Add the noodles you have made to the onions and cabbage, and cook for about 30 minutes, adding butter when necessary.

  14. Step 14

    Serve hot.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can use prepackaged noodles for a quicker meal. Egg noodles work well.
