1
Keep your shoulders aligned with your handlebars during your approach, and remain in a comfortable position on the bike. You should be upright, knees bent slightly and in control of your BMX bike. Gain enough speed to clear the jump and complete the trick.
-
2
Keep centered, compress your body and pump yourself up the ramp, continuing your momentum and speed as you clear the lip of the jump.
-
-
3
Begin to tilt your head back as you clear the BMX jump, and keep looking back in the direction of the back flip until you can spot your landing. This will help prepare you for the landing. When you begin the rotation, avoid pulling yourself toward the handlebars. Always keep your body in a midpump position, centered over the bike seat, and maintain a smooth, consistent transition.
-
4
Spot your landing, and focus on landing the bike cleanly. Keep your body centered and follow through with your landing. Focusing on the landing is very important, and it helps to master the rotation first in the foam pit.

Continue to practice until you have learned how to successfully do a BMX back flip.

when going for a double (only try this when you master a backflip) just use the same instructions again but when you get going the rotation picks up as physics work and you will have to push a little forward to take a safe landing, and as this article says always start in a foam pit. injuries can be life threatening if you dont learn first! -
