  • A few shakes of pepper
  • A few shakes of garlic powder
  • Roasting Pan
  • Electric carving knife
  • Dry Packet of Au Jus
  • 1 c of water
  • Bread or rolls
  • Saucepan
  • Oven

    Making the Pot Roast

  1. Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees and proceed to step 2.

  2. Step 2

Place your roast in your roasting pan and coat with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Add a little water to the bottom of the pan.

  3. Step 3

Place some tin foil over your roasting pan or use the roasting pan lid. Insert in to the oven and cook 20 minutes per pound. 3 pounds equals 1 hour.

  4. Making the Roast Beef

  5. Step 1

Get out your electric carving knife and slice your pot roast real thin. As thin as you can get it. If you take your time and go slow and steady, you'll get the best cuts.

  6. Step 2

In a saucepan, heat up 1 cup of water. Once boiling add your packet of dry au jus mix. Combine and cook for 2 minutes longer.

  7. Step 3

Place your roast beef slices on a piece of bread and drizzle with au jus. You could also use rolls if you have them. If you are packing a lunch to be eaten later, place the au jus in a plastic container. If you add it to the bread ahead of time the bread will be soggy.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can make au jus juice using the water in the roasting pan for added flavor.
  • Make sure you have pot holder on when you remove your roast from the oven to prevent burns.
