Things You'll Need:
- tennis shoes
- spotters
-
Step 1
Stretch properly. Tight muscles and joints are a common cause of all sorts of injuries. Stretch your back by doing backbends, touching your toes and having someone pull your arms back while you lie on your stomach. Stretch your hamstrings and wrists. A cramped wrist can cause you to drop someone or fall out of a tumbling stunt.
-
Step 2
Strength train. The stronger you are the less likely you are to injure yourself doing a simple trick. Work on your core, or ab strength. Your abs are your center and a strong set will make all of your movements simpler.
-
Step 3
Suck in your stomach and engage your muscles while tumbling, stunting, lifting and kicking. Doing this forces your body to work as a single unit, strengthening itself and decreasing the odds of injury.
-
Step 4
Employ a spotter. Have someone spot new and different tricks. A spotter can catch a fall and prevent a tailbone injury. A spotter can also see a flaw and yell to stop, preventing you from making a dangerous mistake.
-
Step 5
Use your head. Be smart about what you do. Think ahead and pay attention. Listen to your body. If you're hurting or something doesn't feel right don't push it. In the long run it won't be worth it.
