How to Use Speakers in Pro Tools

This article will teach you how to use speakers in Pro Tools. We'll learn where to make connections and how to adjust the volume on the speakers once they are connected to the Pro Tools hardware.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pro Tools hardware
  • Cable
  • Speakers
  1. Step 1

    Locate the monitor outputs on your Pro Tools system. They will be labeled MON OUTPUT L and MON OUTPUT R.

  2. Step 2

    Connect one end of your cable to the MON OUTPUT L jack.

  3. Step 3

    Connect the other end of your cable to the input of your left speaker.

  4. Step 4

    Repeat steps 1 through 3 for your right speaker.

  5. Step 5

    Locate the button marked "MONITOR LEVEL" on your Pro Tools hardware.

  6. Step 6

    Play your audio and slowly turn the MONITOR LEVEL button until you reach your desired listening level.

Tips & Warnings
  • When adjusting your volume level ALWAYS start with the volume turned ALL the way down and slowly turn the volume up to your desired level. Making sure to always follow this rule can save you a blown speaker and lots of money!
