Some things you may give a little on include indidvidual characteristics while others like family, politics, religion may not be negotiable. You also have to decide whether your relationship is based on friendship and whether it has the capacity to move on to love and sex.

Ultimately, the key step left is to live life to the fullest, doing what you love. It doesn't pay to go to the bar, club, or on vacation to Bermuda if that's not where you want to be. Just go about your normal routine. If you want to try something different, that's fine, but make sure it's something you enjoy. You don't want to do something just for the sake of meeting someone. Taking a class is a good way to meet people because you will have common interests with the people taking those classes.
