How to Host a Snowman Party
-
1
Make and send out the invitations: From white poster board, cut snowman shapes about 8 inches long and 4 inches wide. Draw eyes and a mouth. Add all the party information: “Snowman Party,” where, time and place, phone number. No need for an envelope. Simply address the other side, add a stamp, and mail like a postcard.

Plan the entertainment: --Make Snowmen from Styrofoam balls. Give each child three sizes of Styrofoam balls. Provide white glue, cardboard bases, little twigs for arms and decorative trim like beads, buttons, felt, etc. Have children shave off the bottom of the biggest ball so it can be glued onto the cardboard base. Then they will “build” the snowman, and decorate. Encourage them to fashion hats and scarves for their snowmen. Line the snowmen up on the refreshment table. --Tape the Nose on the Snowman: Use the second sheet of poster board to make a large snowman. Draw on the facial features except the nose. Cut round noses from black construction paper. Blindfold kids and let them attach the nose at the correct spot. --Help children make snowball cookies. Simply mix together 2 cups flour, 1 cup softened butter or margarine, 1 cup chocolate chips, 1 tablespoon milk, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Roll into small balls, and bake at 300 degrees for about 10 minutes or until lightly brown. Roll in powdered sugar. Let cool and roll again. --Rent a DVD of “Frosty the Snowman” for kids to watch during refreshments

Plan the refreshments: Serve the snowball cookies, of course, with round balls of vanilla ice cream which you have previously scooped and frozen. Hot chocolate with marshmallows makes a great accompaniment.
