How to Do a Front Spin With a Bo Staff

Using a Bo staff, you will be able to perform a variety of moves including the Front Spin. This is a simple move, but will require some practice in order to perfect it. As you become more comfortable with the Front Spin, you will be able to increase your speed and combine it with other moves.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bo staff
  1. Step 1

    Hold the Bo staff horizontally in both hands. If you're right handed, you will use your right hand to spin the staff to the right. If you're left handed, you will use your left hand to spin staff to the left.

  2. Step 2

    Place the Bo staff between your pointer and middle fingers. Your other hand should be used to steady the Bo staff.

  3. Step 3

    Spin the staff toward your thumb and remove your other hand.

  4. Step 4

    Move your other hand underneath the staff to catch it once the staff reaches your thumb.

  5. Step 5

    Increase the speed as you become more comfortable with this move. Use your other hand to keep the staff moving.

Tips & Warnings
  • Practice this move often in order to improve form and speed.
