The secret to a delicious shrimp salad sandwich lies as much in the choice of bread as it does the shrimp salad itself. Even a scrumptious shrimp salad will lose its appeal if it is served up on inferior bread that does little to enhance the flavor. For a delightful and tasty shrimp salad sandwich try this recipe.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fresh parmesan french bread
  • 2 tablespoons herb flavored cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 3 tablespoons minced onion
  • 3 stalks celery
  • 1 lb freshly cooked shrimp
  • Tomato slices
  • Salt and pepper to taste

    Prepare the Shrimp

  1. Step 1

Place the shrimp and chopped onion in a blender and blend until minced finely.

  2. Step 2

Soften the cream cheese in a small bowl and blend in the mayonnaise until smooth.

  3. Step 3

Dice celery and add to the cream cheese and mayonnaise mixture.

  4. Step 4

In a large bowl, combine the shrimp mixture with the mayonnaise and cream cheese and mix well. Refrigerate for one hour to blend flavors.

  5. Prepare the Sandwich

  6. Step 1

Slice a freshly baked Parmesan French bread loaf in half lengthwise.

  7. Step 2

Layer the bottom half with shrimp salad. Top with thinly sliced tomatoes. Add a dash of salt and pepper to taste and cover with the top of the loaf of bread.

  8. Step 3

Cut in serving size sections and serve with your choice of side--french fries, chips or salad.

  9. Step 4

Refrigerate any left over sandwich filling or sandwich sections.

Tips & Warnings
  • Herb flavored cream cheese comes in a variety of flavors. Try garlic flavored cream cheese to boost the flavor of your shrimp salad.
  • Strong onions may overpower the flavor of shrimp. Choose a sweet onion like Vidalia onions for best results.
