Instructions

  1. Making the honey butter

    • 1

Gather the two ingredients, butter and honey. Any butter will do, either real or substitute, as well as any store brand honey. Allow the butter to soften at room temperature, though it doesn’t have to be super-soft to begin the process.

    • 2

Measure out ½ cup of butter, and ¼ cup of honey. Depending on the amount you wish to cover with the spread, you can use less or more. Just remember to use half the amount of honey for the size of butter used.

    • 3

Using a whip-(it’s not necessary to use a mixer and it’s more controlled this way)-stir the butter until it’s soft and creamy. Slowly pour in the honey, and mix until the honey is thoroughly distributed. Once the two are mixed well, the butter will be a warm yellow, almost caramel color (depending on the amount of honey) and will be very soft.

    • 4

Once the mixture is complete, spread and enjoy! Only a small amount will be necessary, as the whipping action spreads and distributes the butter thinly. Remember to refrigerate any unused portion, which will last the length of time of your usual butter.

    • 5

If the butter begins to harden, simply whip it again. It is not necessary to add more butter or more honey, simply allow it to get room temperature and give it a good stir. It will soften immediately and taste as good as it did on the first day.

Tips & Warnings

  • This spread tastes great on breads, and can be either combined with jellies or served alone. And once it’s whipped, very little is required to make a satisfying spread, which leads to a healthy use of butter. Enjoy!
