Admit it. You have plastic containers in your cabinet that are horribly stained. Wouldn't it be nice if you could prevent those stains? Instead of buying a new set of plastic containers every few months, why not follow a few basic steps and preserve the clean ones you already have?

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Spray with nonstick cooking spray. The next time you use one of your stain-free plastic containers, spray it with cooking spray. This will help ensure that the food doesn't penetrate the plastic.

  2. Step 2

Avoid heating foods in the container. When you heat foods, the stains seem to set in even worse. As you periodically stir your foods, as it heats, you will remove the nonstick spray and the barrier between the food and the plastic will be broken.

  3. Step 3

Find alternative containers for tomato-based products. If you need to store tomato based products, you can keep your plastic containers stain free by using glass or disposable containers.

  4. Step 4

Purchase "stain-free" containers. You can now find plastic containers that will remain stain free no matter what you put in them. They will cost more money, but you'll never have to worry about having stained containers.
