Take several acting classes to learn the craft of acting.

Network with filmmakers. The best place to start is at the college level. Most film students have to make a thesis film in their final year of study. This is a great opportunity for you to offer to cast it for free.

Study basic entertainment law. Or find a mentor to help you learn your way as you work your way up the ranks.

Build resume credits. You'll need to continue building credits and relationships with filmmakers. To do this, visit festivals, screenings and film making groups.

Try to find work as a production assistant. This is a great job to help you learn a thing or two about the industry. Ideally, try to find work as an agent's assistant. If not, try to get an internship with a talent agency. Whether you are an intern or assistant, you will have to work your butt off and prove yourself to eventually be promoted within the agency.
