Know about primary and secondary treatments. Primary and secondary syphilis are both treated with a penicillin G dose given once. If allergic, patient is given a tetracycline treatment. After dosage, patient is put under clinical follow up 1-2 weeks after dosage and every 3, 6, 9, 12 and 24 months patient undergoes serological follow up. Patients are recommended to follow up with their caring physician as directed so that he or she can accurately treat you.

Know about latent syphilis treatments. Latent syphilis treatment is the third stage of the syphilis disease; however, it is still more treatable than the last and more advanced stage of the disease. Latent syphilis is treated with penicillin G over a period of 3 weeks with one dose given once per week. If a patient is allergic to penicillin, tetracycline is given usually over a period of 28 days. Since latent syphilis is a more advanced form of syphilis the patient is even more cautioned to follow up with his or her doctor after treatment. Following up with your doctor will allow him or her to properly treat and evaluate you.

Be aware of neurosyphilis treatments. Neurosyphilis is the most advanced form of the disease. Neurosyphilis is also a form of early dementia; therefore many issues are examined such as auditory and ocular issues. This form of the disease is commonly treated by ACPG or aqueous crystalline penicillin G with is given intravenously every 4 hours or non stop for 10-15 days. If allergic to penicillin, a patient is usually given a painful round of procaine penicillin and probenecid drugs for two weeks. It is recommended that you maintain follow ups with your caring physician, because this is an important key to getting the treatment needed to slow the progression of the dementia caused by late syphilis.
