Create clothes that are uniquely personal, reflecting your true personality, and individual style. Start with some outdated tops that need a quick lift, some old belts, junk jewelry and other odds and ends, and you can create an entirely new piece of fashion that makes a statement every time you wear it.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fabric glue or hot glue and a hot glue gun
  • ribbons
  • old belts
  • old jewelry
  • sequins
  • bangles
  • beads
  • old shirts, sweaters and tops
  1. Step 1

Disassemble your old jewelry and belts, saving the pieces for your new creation. You can use beads, buckles, pins, earrings and any other odds and ends you have around the house, to create a new look from an old garment.

  2. Step 2

Lay your shirt or sweater out flat. Arrange the ribbon, beads, buckles and other accessories into a pattern that appeals to you. Coordinate colors and materials, considering placement of the items. Belts can be placed at the middle of the shirt (around the waistline) or use them directly under the breast line. Ribbon works well at the neckline, and also at the bottom hem. You can also use ribbon with buckles from old belts, to create a new waistline for the shirt or sweater. Beads and pieces of old jewelry can be placed around the neckline, or arranged in patterns on the front or sides of the shirt. They can be used to dress up sleeves, cuffs and collars.

  3. Step 3

Get ready, set, glue. Once you have decided on a pattern that you like, you can glue the items into place with either the fabric glue or the glue gun. Let dry for at least 24 hours before wearing.

  4. Step 4

Turn shirts inside and hand wash, after wearing. Always air dry shirts that have been decorated using hot glue or fabric glue, to keep them looking newer, longer.
