Many belief systems adopt the idea of reincarnation, karma, or some variation on the life-death cycle. People often feel a connection to a time, place, or even an occupation which they have no previous contact. It may be that familiar feeling is linked to a past life. One way of investigating your past lives is by attempting hypnotic regression. However, there are meditative practices that can achieve the same goals. If you follow these steps, which may seem a little esoteric, and allow yourself to go on the inward journey, you may find the answer to your past life and a greater spiritual understanding of your current self.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Step1
Learn to meditate. Before you can even begin this exercise you must be adept at meditation. Whether you use darkness meditation or choose to commune in a natural setting you must be able to meditate or past life regression will not be possible.
Step2
Schedule a time to meditate. If should be at least half an hour of uninterrupted quiet in a comfortable place.
Step3
Enter a meditative state and visualize yourself entering an ancient library. Allow yourself to visualize climbing the steps and entering the door. Don’t rush. Allow yourself to fully explore the library in your mind.
Step4
Imagine that there are librarians behind a desk that are friendly and willing to help you with your research. Ask the librarian to help you find the book of your lives. Keep in mind that it may take several attempts before you get this far.
Step5
Visualize yourself in a quiet place where you can study information in the volumes of your life. These may be books, scrolls, stone tablets, whatever your mind envisions; don’t try to alter it, just accept the vision.
Step6
Focus on the records. At first they may seem to be in a language you can’t read or in mysterious symbols, but as you meditate the message will begin to make sense. Take your time and experience it fully. You might find yourself seeing a picture of yourself in another life, seeing a family tree, or even witnessing a replay of an event. Embrace the experience.
Step7
Record your findings. Even if what you saw in your meditation seemed confusing, write it down. If it was a symbol try to draw it. Allow yourself to contemplate the meaning behind the vision.
Step8
Research the vision. Once you have a starting point you can begin doing historical research on the Internet or in the library. If you are lucky enough to get a name or place to start with, then investigate them thoroughly. Of course there is nothing scientific about this process, it is instead a visceral and spiritual connection and as such should be deeply personal.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not allow yourself to enter the meditative state with any preconceived notions of your past lives.
  • Do not use alcohol or medication when practicing meditation because they can have an adverse effect on visions you experience.
