How to Fuse Materia in Final Fantasy Crisis Core
One of the more interesting parts of the battle system in Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core is the materia fusion system. This allows you to fuse materia, the skill crystals you collect throughout the game, into more powerful forms. The combinations can become quite complicated, however, so follow these steps to get started in making Zack more powerful.

Proceed through Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core to Chapter 4. This will unlock the ability to fuse materia.

Complete mission 7-2-1 to gain the ability to fuse materia with other items. This is not necessary, but it allows you to create much more powerful materia.

Open the character menu by pressing the triangle button.

Select "Materia Fusion."

Select a materia for each slot available. You can also select optional items for more interesting combinations.

Check to see the type of materia your selections will create. Remember, you do not have to proceed and can choose to cancel the fusion.

Know that you can combine materia of the same type to improve their power and quality.
