Often, you can buy big bags of raw peanuts for much less than you'd pay for roasted peanuts. Roasting is easy and can be done quickly in a regular oven. Roasting and salting a little as you need them makes for delicious, fresh-tasting peanuts. These quick steps will tell you how to roast peanuts.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Shelled or in-shell raws peanuts
  • Conventional oven
  • Cookie sheets
  • Salt
  • Other seasonings as desired
Step1
For shelled peanuts, freeze them overnight and rub the skins off with your fingers before roasting. It's fine if some of the skins remain on. For peanuts in the shell, leave as is.
Step2
Spread peanuts in a shallow layer on a cookie sheet.
Step3
Roast in the oven at 350 degrees F for 15 to 20 minutes for shelled peanuts and 20 to 25 minutes for in-shell peanuts.
Step4
Let peanuts cool on sheets, then season with salt.

Tips & Warnings

  • Peanuts are great with Cajun seasoning, herbs, garlic, cinnamon or a light dusting of sugar.
  • Because of the fat content, peanuts get very hot. Handle carefully.
