Instructions

  1. Shamrock Man

    • 1

Cut the shamrock body, which is a big green shamrock, and then use a smaller brown piece for the legs. You will also need to cut a small hat with the black paper along with two brown feet and a yellow square buckle.

    • 2

Place the big green shamrock on a large sheet of white construction paper. Position is important since the whole man needs to fit on the paper. Allow the preschooler to use a stick of glue across the big green shamrock and turn it over and place it on the white paper. Direct the preschooler to position the big green shamrock in the center of the largest piece of paper so you can have room to add the legs and hat.

    • 3

Pick up the little brown legs, hand these to your child, and allow her to glue then underneath the big green shamrock. Glue the hat in position along with the yellow buckle square to complete your big green shamrock man. Allow your preschooler to color in the smiling face, arms and, of course, a tie in the middle when everything is dry.

    • 4

Allow your preschooler to add a blarney stone or use little shamrocks stickers and be sure to write the preschooler's name on the white paper. Your preschooler can color shamrocks on to this paper to make it truly unique and your child could add in a photograph of a child or a favorite pet.

    • 5

Cut a piece of the clear contact paper and lay it flat on a table sticky side up and place the shamrock man paper on it upside down and smooth these two together. Cut another piece of clear contact and use it on the back so that your place mat becomes waterproof.

Tips & Warnings

  • Now, with the addition of the clear contact paper covering, it is easy to wipe clean after your preschooler eats his or her dinner. Imagine the look upon the face of your preschooler when you serve his or her favorite meal on his personalized place mat instead of the usual one.

  • This personalized shamrock man place mat can also double as a playmate for your preschooler when he plays with play dough or clay.
