Instead of reaching for a box of brownie mix at the supermarket, make this pie from scratch. You'll be able to tell the difference. This recipe wworks well with walnuts or pecans, too.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pam nonstick cooking spray
  • One egg
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp. cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)

How to Make No Fuss Brownie Pie

  1. Step 1

Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray an 8" pie pan heavily with Pam.

  2. Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients and mix well with a wooden spoon.

  3. Step 3

Push the dry ingredients to the side and make a "well" in the center. Add egg and butter (or margarine). Stir well to mix.

  4. Step 4

Use a rubber spatula to spread the brownie mixture evenly into the pie plate.

  5. Step 5

Place in a preheated oven and bake at 325 degrees for 15 minutes. The pie is done when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.Remove from the oven and serve warm or at room temperature with vanilla ice cream.

Tips & Warnings
  • Hershey's dark cocoa works well in this recipe, too.
  • Be sure to mix the dry ingredients before adding the egg and butter; this prevents lumps.
  • Don't overbake the pie, or the crust will dry out.
