Healthy Spinach Makes No-Fat Salad

Spinach is one of nature's superfoods, and this is a tasty way to serve it in a salad. If you like the citrus flavor of the dressing, you can also add a half cup of mandarin oranges to the salad before tossing.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 bag prepared spinach (or 6-8 cups fresh)
  • 1 pear, diced
  • 1/3 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/2 large red onion, diced
  • 1/3 cup seasoned rice vinegar
  • 1/3 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil

    How to Make No Fat Spinach Salad

  1. Step 1

    Clean and wash spinach well, using a colander or salad spinner. Drain well and press out on paper towels.

  2. Step 2

    Dice pear. Chop onion rings.

  3. Step 3

    Place spinach in large salad bowl, and add pear, onion rings and dried cranberries.

  4. Step 4

    Mix together rice vinegar, orange juice and basil with whisk or fork in a small bowl.

  5. Step 5

    Pour dressing over salad and toss. Serve immediately.

Tips & Warnings
  • Substitute one red or golden delicious apple, chopped, for pear, if you like. Dried cranberries can be found next to the raisins in the grocery store. You can also use dried blueberries if you prefer.
  • Rinse and clean spinach well before using. Discard any leftover salad after serving.
