MySpace is known to be one the largest social networking communities on the Internet with millions of members. It is a website with many applications for their members to use to keep in contact with each other through personal messaging to a personal page that allows the user to put content they desire on their page. MySpace is also a creative way for businesses to network with potential customers which will create more exposure for many companies that use MySpace to advertise.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Navigate to the MySpace website and create a free profile. In your profile first talk about yourself and then talk about your business so that your potential audience, as this will give a personalized touch to your profile. Introducing yourself first and then your business will draw more people to your profile.

  2. Step 2

After you have created your MySpace page, click on the browse link to search for the different types of people that you would like to contact and network with.

  3. Step 3

Go to the person's profile and click on the add to friends link, and this will allow you to be added to their MySpace page. The person will have a choice of whether to approve or deny your request. If they approve your request then you will both be connected. This is also another great way to view their “friends list” and contact more people through there.

  4. Step 4

Post bulletins that are personal as if you are writing a note to a friend not a customer. Keep the bulletin upbeat and friendly and be sure include a link and contact information about your business.

  5. Step 5

Add as many friends to your “ MySpace friends list” as possible to increase the amount of people that you will be able to network with on a regular basis.

  6. Step 6

Post comments on your MySpace friend's profiles and be sure to include a link to your website. The people that visit your friend's page will see your website link and your profile and will be more apt to contact you.

  7. Step 7

Place a classified advertisement of your business on the MySpace classifieds section. Remember to always add a link to your website.

  8. Step 8

Write on your MySpace blog talking about yourself first to add that personal touch and then talk about your business.

  9. Step 9

Participate in the forums and groups with the other MySpace members. However, keep in mind that you cannot advertise there but still participate to be noticed by the other members.

Tips & Warnings
  • You must be subtle in your advertisement efforts as it is easy to get labeled as a spam member which is a person who sends many advertisements all of the time. Remember to add a personal touch to your messages, blog and profile.
  • The MySpace community is interested in you as a person first and foremost, and then secondly they are interested in your business.
  • The MySpace instant messaging service allows you to chat and communicate with other members.
  • Look around at other profiles to get ideas from others who are also marketing and networking their businesses.
