How to Become a Private Investigator in Georgia

Being a Private Investigator in different states has a variety of policies and regulations. It involves assisting individuals, businesses, and lawyers by searching for and processing information. They solve clues and mysteries of cases that are of financial, legal, or personal affairs. To be a Private Investigator it does require you to be a persistent and assertive individual in this line of work.

    To become a Private Investigator:

  1. Step 1

    College universities have degrees that specialize in criminal justice, police science, legal and criminal investigation, and studies in sociology. Another way is through joining the law enforcement division, the military, government agent, investigative, and federal intelligence type of positions. This experience will help you to have a full understanding of the private investigation objectives.

  2. Step 2

    Licenses are only issued to companies that have a qualified official who has the education and experience to be the main holder. If you desire to open your own company then you must call or visit the state's website for more information on the requirements.

  3. Step 3

    Get the required experience. The investigator must have two years of experience which could be done in law enforcement or as a registered private detective. You must have a four year degree in Criminal Justice or a related field in order to be considered for obtaining a license with the company.

  4. Step 4

    To work for a company as a private investigator you must be 18 years old or older, and meet the requirements that have been set by the Board.
