First, do your research. Austin is home to countless music festivals, from the extremely large South by Southwest and Austin City Limits Festival, to the smaller Old Pecan Street Fall Arts Festival and Austin Celtic Festival. These festivals take place at different times of the year. Think about what time of the year you'd like to attend a festival. Think about what kind of music you'd like to hear. South by Southwest is usually rock and pop music, and Austin Celtic Festival is, unsurprisingly, Celtic music. Which festival or festivals would you like to attend?

Look for coupons and discounts on festival tickets on Austin-area websites and music sites. You might be apply to apply these to your purchases. Tickets to these festivals can be extremely pricey (for example, the all-inclusive South by Southwest show passes) so be sure to check these out!

Once you know what festivals you're going to attend and whether or not you can get a discount or coupon online, the next step is to check out the websites for these festivals. For example, the South by Southwest website is www.sxsw.com, and the Austin City Limits website is at www.austincitylimits.com. You can purchase your tickets on these websites. Make sure you have a credit card available, and submit your purchase or purchases.
